Over the past few weeks, I’v been slowly changing our living room. Since I painted our kitchen a lighter colour (pure white by Benjamin Moore) it brightened up the space, making a huge difference compared to the before colours! You can see before and after pictures here. I wanted to create a continuous flow of colour throughout the main level, meaning the living room was next on my to-do list. If your interested, heres a little tour of our house last December… and I may have dropped a few hints then that I wanted to change the colour scheme in our home!
Owning your own home— you learn what you like/ don’t like, what works/ what doesn’t and what you need/ don’t in your living space. Now that we have two little boys running around, we use our basement as a playroom/lounging area and our upstairs is more of an adult space… Even though the boys still like to get rowdy in the living room, we at least have somewhere (the basement) to give them the boot when we have company over.
Over the years, my style has changed and I like to think it’s improved. I have finally pin-pointed what colours I’m drawn to, the type of furnishings, decor and textures I admire. I mean, theres so many Interior Design styles: Mid-Century Modern, Industrial, Nautical, Bohemian, Scandinavian, Vintage/ Shabby, Eclectic, French Country, Farmhouse, Contemporary, Traditional, and the list goes on… For a better understanding or to narrow down your style, visit Houzz.
I’m drawn to light and airy spaces, with lots of natural lighting, wood tones, natural elements, minimalistic in colour and decor. I love a few accent colours but not the whole rainbow, although I love Bohemian, and Justina Blakeney will blow you away with her amazing style and design! Modern Farmhouse with a little industrial flare is what I’m drawn to most of all. I love old and rustic, modern and new, crisp and clean, natural colours and textures, and a few pops of colour with plenty of botanicals.
Here’s a round-up of my favourite white living rooms found on Pinterest.

All of the living room spaces pictured above are a variety of different styles, yet they all still have some similarities. The walls are light, giving the space a crisp and refreshing backdrop. Theres lots of texture in natural elements such as the wood, stone/ brick and plants. The pops of colour can be found in the decor, rugs, pillows, blankets, plants and some of the furniture. There are a number of plank walls, beams and pitched ceilings that give the rooms additional character– all that I love!
Which living room do you adore and what interior style to you most resemble!? I would love to hear :)
Thanks for reading,

I love interior design, and white rooms are just lovely! My favorites are #1, #11 and #12 :) I painted my room blue few years ago but lately I’ve been dying to have my white room back, haha. In the future when I get a home, I’ll make a room like this ;)

I love bright, white spaces… in theory. But with my four little mess-makers, I don’t think it would be the best idea. Maybe someday. :) I lvoe the look of the white-washed brick in several of those pictures, and especially love the one from Batter Homes and garden with the cathedral ceiling and brick fireplace (fifth from the bottom).
