Give your kitchen or bathroom a little extra style with a DIY Mason Jar Soap Dispenser! They are super easy and affordable to make, all while adding some vintage character to your home. Follow these step-by-step instructions to learn how to make your own!
What you will need:
- Mason Jar (any size you wish)
- Spray Paint (I used one with primer for extra protection).. Be creative! Use a paint colour that matches your washroom decor.
- Soap Dispenser with removable pump
- Drill or Hammer
- Optional – Glue (with water-resistant adhesive)
Step 1:
Remove the pump from the soap dispenser and clean the soap off. Next you will need to make a hole in the center of your mason jar where the pump tube will follow through. I used a black marker to mark a circle. Next drill a hole in the middle and proceed to drill holes around the first hole you made (you can do this step with a hammer and nail as well). After the holes are made, use the end of the marker to make the little holes from the drill into one big hole. Take the pump tube and slide it through the lid hole to check if the hole is big enough. Once it is the perfect fit, you are ready for step 2.
Step 2:
Lay down some newspaper/drop sheet and prepare to paint the mason jar lids. I gave the lids two coats of paint (I waited 1 hour between coats). After the second coat, I waited 12 hours + until I assembled mason jar and lid together – this will give the paint extra time to cure.
Step 3:
Add the leftover soap from the original bottle or add your favourite soap. Next, assemble the painted lid and soap dispenser pump together. If you find that the hole you made for the soap dispenser pump is to lose, you can use glue to hold it into place.
And there you have it! The cutest Mason Jar Soap Dispenser!
