As much as I LOVE the white shiplap trend that’s been taking over the modern farmhouse world, there’s another kind of shiplap I love even more…
DARK, MOODY & TEXTURED SHIPLAP
I will always have a love for wood floors and furniture but often times we (or I) want some contrast to go along with wood that isn’t more wood in a different stain or white on top of white (although everything white may always be popular). I find that dark shiplap is dramatic but in a comforting way. It doesn’t necessarily fall under any general interior design “style” which makes the dark and moody shiplap for anyone and everyone, plus when you own your own home, there’s no rules anyhow ;)
From bathroom walls, sliding barn doors and bunk beds, black shiplap is literally used for everything and the impact is bold and phenomenal. (Yup that’s how much I love it.)
When it came to adding an accent wall to our living room, I knew I wanted something interesting. Going with black shiplap while showing the natural wood gain through the dark paint was everything I was looking for and it didn’t disappoint… the only problem now is that I want to black shiplap every room, ahhh!
Here’s the before of our living room before the shiplap (excuse Brent’s leg) …Here’s a peek at our shiplap wall now, amazing right!!!See the full look in the Hello Holiday Guide, here
And here’s the inspiration behind our wall…
I’m obsessed with bold dark colours and all of these photos make me want to add black shiplap in every room.
What do you guys think of black shiplap, is it for you!?
