I hope you all had a very merry Christmas and have made it out of your food coma! These last few days have been full of many memorable festivities, and it’s hard to believe it is all over and we will be kicking into 2015 soon.
Our Christmas started off on Saturday the 21st, where we celebrated Christmas at my older brother and his wife’s home. Instead of the traditional meal, we opted for take-out italian food, h’orderves and of course mountains of sweets!

After our first family Christmas gathering, we traveled home and got back into the work groove and prepped for another few days away from home… traveling and packing gets exhausting! Brent and I have started a tradition with the kids, a few days before Christmas we take them for a drive to look at all the Christmas lights around the neighbourhood. This year has been the best – every time Jack saw Christmas lights he would yell “I see lights mum, I see lights dad! THURRR’S MORE LIGHTS!!!” he was so excited! We always drive through a park in the middle of our city and afterwards we hit up DQ, a weekly thing in our household…
For the past few mornings Jack has asked if he could go to work with Daddy… So Christmas Eve morning Jack went to work with Brent, while Max and I had a peaceful Chapters/Starbucks date… I forgot what a toddler-less outing was like. Later that day we headed up to my parents for our traditional Christmas Eve full of more h’orderves and sweets. On Christmas morning my mom cooked us brunch and we all opened a few more gifts from Santa.

This Christmas has been another incredible one! We have all our Christmas decor packed away until next year – Jack didn’t like this so much. On Sunday while the kids were napping after church, it was the perfect opportunity to take down our Christmas stuff. A few hours later when Jack woke up from his nap, I could hear him from the upstairs saying “oooooh no!” I walked over to our stairs and he looked at me and said “where did Christmas go?!” I felt so bad… he then proceeded to say “I’m so sad, I need to go to the hospital” LOL kids say the sweetest and funniest things! I didn’t realize how much of an impact Christmas had on him, so I had to explain that Santa had already visited and that we were finished celebrating Christmas until the next one. Thankfully we still had plenty of Christmas skittles so he quickly forgot about being sad.
It’s been a great Christmas, and we still have three more in the new year!
