November is the pearl-grey month,
the changeling between warm crimson October and cold white December,
the month when the leaves fall in the slow drifting whirls,
and the shapes of the trees are revealed,
when the earth imperceptibly wakes,
and stretches her bare limbs and displays her stubborn unconquerable strength before she settles uneasily into winter.
November is secret and silent.–Alison Uttley
With the last of Autumn upon us, I thought it was only necessary to share the beautiful photos Mel of Blue Velvet Photography captured within our home! Mel spent the afternoon following the boys and I around doing what we do in a typical day. There is something so raw and full of emotion when it comes to lifestyle photographs. They catch those goofy moments, like parading around in your underwear or when one brother gives the other brother a dirty look (LOL for real). It gives you a real sense of who you (or we) are. It’s in these finer moments that we don’t need to be posing or pretending, but we all get to be ourselves in this particular time.
When my kids have grown up and have their own children, these are the photos I’m going to remember, the smell of those Halloween cookies baking in the oven, how Max’s clothing was full of flour and icing and those two boys running around the house because of all the sugar they consumed. I’m going to remember how angry Max was because Jack held Rue first, or the cuddles Max needed from myself and Rue because he got his finger caught in the door. How much fun the boys had raking leaves and throwing them on mommy on one of the warmest most beautiful fall day.
These are real moments that tell a story, one we will talk about down the road with our children’s children. These are the best days our our lives, lets cherish and remember them!
Next time you plan to have family photos done, think about inviting the photographer into your home. Even though our house my not be the most organized or biggest, this is the home we’ve raised our children in.
Thank you Mel for capturing these sweet moments of us!!
